Introducing, An Online Tax Resource For The Sharing Economy

If you’ve raised startup seed money recently you’re surely familiar with Series Seed documents. Created by Ted Wang these document templates have helped reduce both the time and cost of a financing transaction and have become de facto standard. Inspired by Series Seed we have created a new website - - with the purpose of helping everyone involved in the sharing/freelance economy. is an open repository of frequently asked questions on taxes and accounting. It’s aimed directly at anyone earning income through digital marketplaces (e.g. Etsy, Shapeways), crowdfunding sites (e.g. Kickstarter, Indiegogo) or resource sharing services (e.g. Airbnb, Lyft). We also want to help the millions of people who get their income doing freelance and consulting work, a contingent that has only grown in the past decade.

We know taxes are a very delicate subject and hardly anyone likes to give advice. We also know that every case is different, so let it be clear that content is not advice but a starting point to learn about taxes in the sharing/peer/freelance economy context.

We also hope this becomes an open resource for the community to share their own experiences. We invite you to browse our rough draft and, in the spirit of the sharing economy, add your personal experiences, questions, answers, and share with your peers.

I look forward to hearing from you, all feedback is important and welcome. You can reach me at alberto [at] or @cacheop.
