What would you build if you could reach 490 million users?
Collaborative Fund and LINE have partnered to invest in companies that can leverage a fast growing mobile platform. As part of our partnership, we’re inviting startups to attend a pitch event with the LINE team later this year.
For background, LINE originated as a response to the network failures following the devastating 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. In just three short years, LINE has grown exponentially and evolved beyond a simple messaging application into a powerful mobile platform fostering creativity and innovation all across the world. Unique connections are being powered everyday with artists through LINE with features such as the Creators Market, the Sticker Shop and LINE Mall.
Collaborative Fund launched in 2010 as an investment fund for the shared future, with our thesis being borne out of two macro themes: the growth of the creative class and the concept of collaborative consumption. We support and invest in companies that are shaping culture and pushing the world forward.
We’ve joined forces to expand our focus and support new ventures that are mobile-centric, applicable to a global market, and have shared values with Collaborative Fund.
What could this look like? Drawing from our portfolio and others, imagine if:
-
CreativeMornings started an attendee chatroom for chapters in all 80 cities worldwide.
-
Quarterly subscribers had a private Q&A with curators like Digg & Q-Tip.
-
NounProject artists were featured on the Creators Market globally.
-
Lyft drivers and users communicated using the messaging app in real time.
-
IFTTT becomes a messaging channel for automation.
-
Shyp used LINE to provide real-time, last mile updates.
This could be your company on this list above!
